About SWE
What is SWE?
Founded in 1950, the Society of Women Engineers is an international non-profit organization that has given women engineers a unique place and voice within the engineering industry. The SWE organization is centered around a passion for members’ success, and continues to evolve with the challenges and opportunities reflected in today’s engineering and technology specialties.
SWE is comprised of over 400 professional and collegiate sections across the globe, as well as Collegiate Affiliates. SWE partners with numerous organizations, such as FIRST Robotics and Girl Scouts. SWE also offers a K-12 Outreach program called SWENext, which is a free program for students to get involved with SWE before their collegiate career.
